Every Sunday from 1 PM to ?? - Jamming at the Kellish Farm in a heated barn! Everyone is welcome. A potluck supper is served around 5 pm. Everyone and all types of traditional music are welcome. Come join the family, play, sing along, or just sit in a rocker by the fire and listen. Suggested donation is $2.00 to cover expenses and a dish to pass for the supper.

Most every Thursday: Open Mik Nite, at 7 pm, often hosted by John Cadley. So bring your songs, instruments, voices and John will back you if needed. Come to listen in our cool music barn too....Its all good. Refreshments served. Bring something to share ... Donations accepted. Call 315-682-1578 to confirm.

Their instrumentals include polkas, jigs, and old fiddle tunes...and when you think you've heard it all, Dave will step up and bring the house down with one of his smooth yodels. Farewell Concert: Andrea Asprelli of Boots n' Shorts and Atlantic Flyway Fame - Bittersweet final concert of a member of our music family... Andrea is moving out of state. She has performed in many bands in the CNY area and has been the booking agent here at Kellish Hill Music . She leaves behind a major void in our lives musically and personally. So let's come celebrate at this farewell concert of Andrea with all her music family to give thanks that she touched each of our lives in such a special way that only this talented lady could do. Bands will be announced soon and more details will be a coming .

Kimberley Fraser - Kimberly Fraser is master of Celtic fiddling, step dancing, and piano from Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, where the traditional style has been well preserved. Kimberley has shared the stage with the finest acts in Celtic music, such as Alasdair Fraser, Martin Hayes and Lunasa. Her reputation as a teacher has brought her to conduct workshops at many camps and festivals, including Alasdair Fraser’s Valley of the Moon Fiddle Camp, the Swannanoa Gathering in Asheville, North Carolina, and The American Festival of Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend, Washington to name a few.

Workshops: Intro to Cape Breton Fiddle 4-5pm In this class we will learn tunes common in the Cape Breton repertoire.  We'll look at the elements that characterize this style of fiddling -bowing, grace notes, etc and listen to several prominent Cape Breton players to identify these characteristics in their playing.  Tunes will be taught by ear so please bring a recording device. Intermediate/Advanced Cape Breton fiddle 5:30 – 6:30pm This class is will be structured similar to the intro class, the difference being the rate at which students learn.  More advanced bowing and embellishments will be covered.  Tunes will be taught by ear so please bring a recording device.

Drums Among The Hills -POW WOW Come to Kellish Hill Farm for the day. Great entertainment for the family as well as information gathering about Native American Culture. Authentic Native American vendors selling their handmade crafts. Children's activities to include making corn husk dolls, painting rocks with Indian symbols and other learning and fun projects. Come listen to old time story telling.. fascinating for young and old alike. Drum circles will be a going... Indian dancing and music throughout the day and into the night. Food vendors will be catering with different Native foods to sample. Hopefully a Tee Pee will be on exhibit. .For all who come - A day of celebrating Indian heritage and connecting to our Mother Earth..

July 18, 2010 Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters: The powerhouse duo of Amy Gallatin and renowned resophonic guitarist Roger Williams joined forces a few years ago to explore their mutual love of country standards, served up with an acoustic treatment in the Bluegrass vein.  Amy is at home singing various musical styles -- country, folk, bluegrass or western swing--branding each song with soulful sincerity. Rachel Eddy and Kristian Herner. Rachel is an old-time fiddle, banjo, and guitar player from Morgantown, WV, who has recently re-located to Stockholm, Sweden. She spent 2 months last fall in Germany touring with the Klangwelten music group. After surviving the Swedish winter she's headed back to Germany on a tour with Uncle Earl. She'll be performing with Kristian Herner from the Rockridge Brothers, debuting their first duo album, Chilly Winds! Rachel has performed in several configurations over the years playing both Old-time and Irish music, including the Morgantown Rounders, The Woodticks, Stewed Mulligan and a trio w/Adam Hurt and Abe Folmsbee.

June 16, 2010 Atlantic Flyway, Driftwood, and John Cadley and the Lost Boys: One night, 3 fantastic CNY bands! Atlantic Flyway is a progressive acoustic trio with a new take on bluegrass, old-time, and swing classics. Joining them will be Binghamton's string band Driftwood, with traces of early Rock and Roll, Classical, the protest folk of the 60's, American Old Time and the Indie and modern music of today. Topping off the evening with be Syracuse's own John Cadley and the Lost Boys.
June 12, 2010 Linda McRae; Linda is a Canadian, Juno nominated, Platinum and Gold recording artist. After her tenure as bassist/accordionist/vocalist with Spirit of the West, Linda left the band to resume her solo career and has since released three critically acclaimed Folk/Roots/Americana recordings. In recent years Linda has turned her attention to the history and study of traditional roots music. April 3, 2010 The Vinegar Creek Constituency: VCC's traditional bluegrass instrumentation has proven surprisingly flexible, with a sound that channels the venerable old ghosts of American folk tradition through imaginative, inventive original songs delivered with rock’n’roll intensity. Winners of the 2008 first annual Delfest (as in McCoury, folks) bluegrass band competition and finalists in the 2008 neo-traditional string band contest in Clifftop, WV, the band is spreading their music beyond the cow-speckled Lancaster County cornbelt they call home. Their second all original CD, Angel of the Last Waltz, has just been released.
March 21, 2010 Bruce Molsky on the Farm: The rumors are true! Kellish Farm is delighted to bring world-renowned old-time musician Bruce Molsky to the stage this spring. Bruce will be leading workshops throughout the day followed by an evening show. Molsky is among the nation's finest traditional musicians, exploring a broad range of musical cultures from Appalachian and Delta Blues to Irish and Eastern European folk music. February 27, 2010 Fund raiser for Bill Knowlton's Bluegrass Ramble Radio Show. Bill's show airs on WCNY Public Radio. WCNY, because its publicly funded, relies on support from the community to keep shows like Bill's on the air. Bill Knowlton's "Bluegrass Ramble" is the oldest bluegrass and acoustic old time country music radio show in the Northeast United States. Bill is entering his 38th year (9pm to midnight (EST) WCNY- FM (91.3) Syracuse, WUNY (89.50 ) Utica, WJNY (90.9) Watertown NY and on the web at www.wcny.org). Local Bluegrass, Folk and Old Time groups will provide the entertainment at the Fund Raiser. There will even be a Polka Band for Bill's (and our) enjoyment!

January 29, 2010 Musician Weekend Retreat with Nick Piccininni at Kellish Hill Farm Informal picking after Friday night's concert. Workshops for beginner, intermediate and advanced on banjo, mandolin and guitar. Fiddler class at beginner/ intermediate level. Only 3 different classes will be held according to preregistration preferences. Saturday 2 classes in each category morning/afternoon. Saturday night jam/stage time. Stay for the whole time or any part.

November 13, 2009 Swing Night with Shotgun Party & Rusty Doves at the Rolling Hills of Bluegrass-Americana - Austin-based trio Shotgun Party headlines this Swing Night, with their "post-modern rockabilly" blend of blues, country, bluegrass and depression era swing, with Hot Club of Cowtown sensibilities. Kicking off the night will be Utica's The Rusty Doves, cooking up a seamless blend of old and new, with musical selections from many genres spanning all decades since the 1920s. December 27, 2008 A night with Norris Bennett from the Ebony Hillbillies, hailing from NYC to have a jam and talk get together. Norris's music is a blending of music.The Ebony Hillbillies is a NYC string band that navigates the ebony and irony that is America. This is living history to be shared with Central NY. This is our roots. Norris has been on the music scene since the 50's. He is our heritage.
